Hello! So glad you are here!

I’m Anja, a child and family counsellor, and what matters most to me is that children & their family feel truly heard,
understood, and validated.
I believe feelings aren’t something to fix — they’re something to understand, and that families grow strongest when they learn about emotions together.

The Emotion Explorers Club was created to help more families access the kind of support I provide in my counselling sessions.
It’s designed to feel like sitting with me in the therapy room — supporting your child to understand where emotions come from, why we don’t always have control over them, and learning playful, practical ways to express feelings like worry, frustration, and anger.

Throughout this guided, therapeutic journey, your family is supported step by step — knowing I am right beside you as you
explore, learn, and grow together.

The program helps children and parents understand emotions and navigate challenges like anxiety, emotional outbursts, friendship struggles, school worries, and building confidence. It also supports children with different kinds of brains and ways of experiencing the world — helping families learn, grow, and understand each other together.

🌿 Our Philosophy

Your child is not broken.

Big feelings, meltdowns, shutdowns, anxiety, frustration... these are not signs of failure.

They are signs of a nervous system trying to cope.

Regulation Before Education

Children can only learn, listen and problem-solve once their nervous system feels safe.
We don’t correct first.
We connect first.

Your Child Is Not Broken

We don’t “fix” children here.

We help them understand their brain, their body, and their feelings — so they can grow confidence from the inside out.

Nervous System to Nervous System

Children don’t just hear our words — they feel our state.

Calm isn’t something we demand.
It’s something we model

 Parent First, Problem-Solving Second

Parents are a child’s strongest co-regulator.

Before we teach strategies to children, we gently support you — because when you feel steadier, your child does too

Skills Grow Through Relationship

Regulation skills aren’t built through charts, consequences, or pressure.

They grow through:

  • shared language

  • playful practice

  • repeated safe experiences

  • small brave steps

 How Change Happens Here

Awareness → Language → Practice → Integration

First we notice.
Then we name.
Then we practise.
Then it becomes part of everyday life.

What the Emotion Explorers Club is all about

The Emotion Explorer Club is a fun, interactive 10-week parent–child program designed for primary-school-aged children, approximately 5–12 years old, and their grown-ups.

It may be especially helpful for children who:

  • experience big feelings, worry, frustration or anger
  • find it difficult to explain what is happening inside them
  • become overwhelmed easily or have difficulty calming once emotions get big
  • struggle with confidence, friendships, school challenges or anxiety
  • benefit from learning about their brain and emotions in a visual, playful and practical way
  • have different learning, emotional or neurodevelopmental needs
  • or simply want to understand themselves and their emotions better.

Your child does not need a diagnosis to participate.

Rather than focusing on fixing behaviour, the program helps families become curious about what behaviour and emotions may be communicating.

Children learn simple, child-friendly explanations about how their brain, body and emotions work — including why worry, anger, frustration and other big feelings show up, how to notice their body's early clues, and what they can do when things start to feel tricky.

And importantly, parents learn alongside their child.

You'll learn how to look beyond the behaviour, understand what may be happening underneath, support regulation and respond with greater confidence, connection and practical strategies.

This isn't a course where your child is expected to sit alone in front of a screen.

You'll watch, talk, practise, play and complete activities together, helping your child take what they're learning and use it in everyday life.

Because when children understand:

“This is what my brain is doing.”
“This is what my body is telling me.”
“This is the feeling that's visiting.”
“And this is something that might help me.”

...big feelings can start to feel a little less confusing.

The program draws on evidence-informed therapeutic approaches used in child and family counselling, presented in ways that children can understand and families can actually use at home.

A little note about age

The 5–12 years is a guide rather than a strict cut-off. Children develop emotional awareness and regulation skills at different rates, so some children outside this age range may also connect with the program.

I particularly like adding that last part because your content is very visual and developmental. A parent of a 12-year-old who functions emotionally more like an 8–10-year-old, for example, shouldn't necessarily read “5–12” and think their child is too old for it.

What Kids & Parents Walk Away With

💛 What families often notice along the way...

Families who complete my counselling program often tell me they begin to understand their child in a completely different way — and children start understanding themselves better too.

You might notice:

  • 🧠 “Now I know what my brain is doing!” — children beginning to understand their feelings, body clues and behaviour rather than simply feeling like they're “in trouble”.
  • 💛 More confidence in being themselves — understanding that different brains have different strengths, challenges and needs.
  • 🌱 A stronger parent–child connection — with more curiosity, conversations and understanding around what's happening underneath behaviour.
  • 🌋 Earlier recognition of big feelings — children getting better at noticing when frustration, worry or overwhelm is starting to build.
  • 🧰 A growing toolbox of strategies — with practical ways to calm, cope, problem-solve and ask for help when things feel tricky.
  • 🗣️ Better words for what’s happening inside — instead of only showing you through behaviour.
  • 🌈 Support for real-life challenges — including anxiety, friendships, school difficulties, frustration, mistakes and things not going to plan.
  • 🤝 More confidence for parents too — knowing what to do during those difficult moments and how to support regulation rather than simply trying to stop the behaviour.

And one of my favourite things to hear from children is when the language starts becoming their language:

“I think my Amy is worried.”
“My Thinking Brain has gone offline.”
“Mad Max is starting to show up.”
“I need one of my helpers.”

Not at all!

This course is completely flexible and self-paced, so you and your child can work through it in a way that suits your family’s schedule.

-parent guidance and support through videos and resources

Is it therapy?

This program is not a replacement for one-on-one therapy.

It is guided support created by a qualified child and family counsellor and draws on evidence-based therapeutic approaches used in counselling practice.

Can I contact Anja if I have questions?

Yes — you can email Anja during the program for guidance or questions. She reviews messages regularly and responds within 2-3 business days.

What if my child doesn’t want to participate?

That’s okay! Many kids are hesitant at first. The course is full of fun visuals, games, and gentle activities. You can watch the videos on your own first to get ideas, then gradually invite your child to join in when they’re ready. The reward card is a great way to get them engaged as they will receive a prize and certificate at the end of the 10 sessions.

What materials will I need?

A printer if you’d like to print our resources. A full materials list is provided when you begin the course.

Can this help if my child already sees a therapist?

Absolutely. This course complements therapy and can help reinforce tools and language used in sessions — especially if you’re looking to feel more confident supporting your child at home.

Why is this course different from other ones offered online?

This program is deeply personal, shaped by years of real-life counselling work with children and families. It’s not a one-size-fits-all course — it’s a gentle, guided experience designed to support your child’s emotional world and help your family grow together.

What families say about working with Anja

Kimberley G.

Anja is amazing! We have been working with Anja for 3 years and the help she offers is practical, her strategies are real solutions not a text book response, everything is bit size and the advice actually makes a difference to developing new skills.

Kelsie D.

Anja is absolutely fantastic! She is such a kind and gentle soul, who truly advocates and supports little amazing humans and their families. Her knowledge, empathy and approach is beyond compare. Our little one feels safe and supported every visit. I highly recommend her calm kidz programs and don't know where we would be without her huge impact on our family. Thankyou as always ✨️

Kelly M.

One word...AMAZING! Anja has been working with our daughter for the last couple of years and has been an amazing support. I have seen our daughter grow so much while working with Anja. She feels safe in being herself around Anja and it's become her second "safe place". Thank you for all you do for our daughter. We love your work :)

Claire B.

Anja is THE BOMB! Incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, but most importantly she gets kids, and really connects with them. My child said the other day - xx (our previous therapist) was amazing, but somehow Anja is even more amazing!!
